Denzel Washington’s Role in Black Panther 3
Denzel Washington, a Hollywood icon and two-time Oscar winner, shared that he is in talks for a role in Black Panther 3. Speaking with Variety, Washington revealed his admiration for franchise director Ryan Coogler.
He said, “Ryan’s a genius. I called him and apologized for talking about the movie, and right there sitting with him was his beautiful wife. He’s still Ryan, humble and full of ideas. Whatever he writes, I’ll read.”
This revelation follows Washington’s earlier comments during an interview with Australia’s Today Show, where he discussed his future projects:
“After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”
His statement marked one of the first concrete indications of development for the film, despite Marvel Studios remaining silent about the threequel’s production status.
Although Marvel has yet to confirm Black Panther 3, the franchise’s commercial success makes another installment highly likely. Both previous films, Black Panther and Wakanda Forever, collectively grossed over $2 billion worldwide, winning multiple Academy Awards and earning Angela Bassett a historic Golden Globe.

Challenges and Future of the Black Panther Franchise
Developing Black Panther 3 presents creative hurdles for Marvel Studios. The franchise must move forward without its central figures, including the late Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed T’Challa, and Queen Ramonda, played by Angela Bassett, who died in Wakanda Forever. Furthermore, unresolved questions linger, such as whether Namor (played by Tenoch Huerta) will return amid controversy surrounding the actor, and how T’Challa’s son, introduced at the end of Wakanda Forever, will fit into the narrative.
Despite these challenges, the involvement of Washington could add a new layer of depth and star power to the series. His potential role under Coogler’s direction has already heightened expectations for the franchise’s future.
