Paramount has revealed that the hotly anticipated sequel to last year’s animated hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be released on October 9th, 2026.
Original Creative Team Returns for Sequel
As per IGN, according to the studio’s announcement, director Jeff Rowe will be back at the helm for the follow-up, having co-written and directed the first movie. Point Grey Pictures will also return to produce.
While plot details remain closely guarded, the Mutant Mayhem sequel promises to continue the blockbuster adventures of unlikely heroes and brothers Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo.
As per Paramount, the film currently does not have an official title beyond being dubbed the “Untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel.”
The 2026 release date means fans will have an agonizing three-year wait before the next chapter in the Turtles’ story hits theatres.
However, Paramount plans to release the new animated series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on streaming platform Paramount+ this summer. The show will see the principal voice cast of Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, Micah Abbey and Shamon Brown Jr. reprise their roles and pick up after the events of Mutant Mayhem.
There is also a TMNT video game adaptation in the works to help make the time pass quicker.

Critical and Commercial Smash Set High Bar for Sequel
Mutant Mayhem smashed box office predictions last August, scoring the #1 opening weekend spot and going on to earn $180 million globally.
In a Review by IGN last year, It won great reviews, including an 8/10 praising its “enthusiasm” and “worn superhero tropes.”
The feel-good family flick clearly resonated with audiences. Now the pressure is on for the creative team to deliver a sequel that meets the high bar set by the first movie.

Early Clues Point to Shredder Appearance
Little is known publicly about the plot for the 2026 follow-up. However, Mutant Mayhem did end on a post-credits tease strongly indicating classic villain Shredder will come into play soon.
In an interview with EMPIRE, Director Jeff Rowe himself has promised Shredder will be included and be “100 times scarier than Superfly.”
The armor-clad ninja master and leader of the Foot Clan has long been the turtles’ arch-nemesis in past incarnations, so his arrival in the rebooted movie universe is sure to excite fans.
