The legendary Jodie Foster, a two-time Oscar winner renowned for her remarkable performances, will be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre during the 15th annual TCM Classic Film Festival.
Honoring a Cinematic Icon
According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Friday, April 19, Foster, 61, will leave her indelible mark in cement at the courtyard of the renowned TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
According to TCM host Ben Mankiewicz, “The truth is Jodie Foster deserves a hand and footprint ceremony solely for her work in 1976 alone — films she made when she was 13 years old — Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone, Freaky Friday, and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. You could see her range already.”
Mankiewicz further praised Foster’s versatility, stating, “Nearly 50 years later, we have an answer to this question: ‘What is a Jodie Foster character?’ The answer is: There is nothing she can’t play. If you want evidence of that, just look at the two movies she’s won Oscars for — a rigid, but dogged FBI agent in The Silence of the Lambs and a self-assured free spirit who summons the strength to seek justice in The Accused.”

A Celebration of Her Jodie Foster’s Talent
Foster’s accomplishments extend beyond her acting prowess, as Mankiewicz acknowledged her directorial skills, saying,
“To make it even more impressive, she’s also an accomplished filmmaker, directing for television and film, including a movie I watch every Thanksgiving — Home for the Holidays from 1995.”
As part of the festivities, Foster’s Oscar-winning masterpiece “The Silence of the Lambs” (1991) will be screened at the festival, with the esteemed actress providing an introduction.
Foster’s hand and footprint ceremony will mark the 11th such honor bestowed at the TCM Classic Film Festival, following in the footsteps of legendary artists like Peter O’Toole, Kim Novak, Jane Fonda, Jerry Lewis, Christopher Plummer, Francis Ford Coppola, Carl and Rob Reiner, Cicely Tyson, Billy Crystal, and Lily Tomlin.
