According to The Guardian, taking to Instagram, Campbell expressed her enthusiasm for the project, which will be directed by Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original 1996 Scream film.

“It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies,” she wrote. “My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned.”

Campbell also shared her excitement about working with Williamson, stating, “I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!”

Return Follows Salary Dispute for Scream VI

Campbell’s return to the Scream franchise comes after a notable absence from the previous installment, Scream VI, due to a salary dispute.

At the time, the actor had stated, “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

However, it seems that the issues have been resolved, paving the way for Campbell’s highly anticipated comeback as the iconic Sidney Prescott.

According to the announcement, the script for Scream 7 will be penned by Guy Busick, based on a story from himself and James Vanderbilt, the writers of the last two Scream movies.
