Gale Weathers Might Return in ‘Scream 7’ – Is Courteney Cox Joining Neve Campbell?

Following Neve Campbell’s recent announcement of her return as Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, reports suggest that Courteney Cox may also be gearing up to reprise her role as the tenacious reporter Gale Weathers in the upcoming Scream 7.

According to Variety, Cox is currently in talks to join the seventh installment of the slasher series, which will be directed by Scream creator and writer Kevin Williamson.

Just two weeks ago, Neve Campbell took to Instagram to share the exciting news of her comeback as Sidney Prescott, the iconic final girl of the Scream franchise. Campbell had previously sat out Scream 6 due to a salary dispute but expressed her joy and pride at being respectfully asked to bring Sidney back to the screen.

Williamson also shared his gratitude and excitement on Instagram, expressing his disbelief at the franchise’s longevity and his anticipation to reunite with Campbell and the entire Scream family for the next chapter.

‘Scream 7’ Faced Setbacks with Firings and Exits

The seventh installment of the ‘Scream’ franchise faced significant hurdles last year when production company Spyglass fired star Melissa Barrera over posts regarding the Israel-Hamas War, which the company deemed antisemitic. Additionally, Jenna Ortega reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

However, Mason Gooding, who portrayed Chad Meeks-Martin in the previous two Scream movies, expressed confidence earlier this month that Scream 7 would find its way, citing the franchise’s potential for financial success and fan demand as driving forces behind its continuation.

The release date for Scream 7 is yet to be announced.
