A highlight of this year’s SAG Awards was an impromptu reunion between the stars of the beloved 2006 comedy The Devil Wears Prada – Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. As the trio took the stage to present the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series, they slipped effortlessly back into their iconic roles.
‘Devil Wears Prada’ Stars Reunite with Hilarious Banter at SAG Awards
According to reports from Deadline, Streep kicked things off solo, before being joined by a glasses-toting Hathaway and envelope-holding Blunt. Poking fun at her notoriously demanding character, Miranda Priestly, Streep remarked, “It’s an age-old question, where does the character end, and the actor begin?”
In a nod to Streep’s chilling performance as the Anna Wintour-esque fashion editor, Blunt retorted, “Meryl and Miranda Priestly are like twins.” Streep was quick to protest, exclaiming, “I don’t think I’m anything like Miranda Priestly!”
Leaning into her role as Miranda’s beleaguered assistant Andy Sachs, Hathaway coolly inserted, “No, no, that wasn’t a question.” Her deadpan delivery elicited laughs across the audience.
Not one to be outdone, Blunt capped off the witty exchange with another of Miranda’s scalding catchphrases: “By all means, move at a glacial pace — you know how that thrills me.”
While not a milestone event, the lighthearted reunion marked the first time the leading ladies have publicly reunited in the 18 years since The Devil Wears Prada premiered.

The Film Propelled Anna Hathaway and Emily Blunt to Stardom
An adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, the smash hit film proved a breakthrough for Hathaway and Blunt. While Hathaway was looking to shed her Princess Diaries teen queen image, Blunt leveraged her role as Miranda’s icy assistant Emily into leading lady status.
For Streep, disappearing into the role of the ruthlessly chic and demanding magazine maven scored her one of her many Oscar nominations. While Miranda Priestly is undoubtedly iconic, Streep’s protestations suggest she prefers to keep a healthy separation between herself and the character.

A Rare Recent Spotlight for the Fading Rom-Com Genre
In addition to critical acclaim, The Devil Wears Prada earned over $326 million globally an impressive haul rarely seen for a romantic comedy in recent years. As the genre has migrated primarily to streaming platforms, the film’s success remains a high watermark.
By all accounts, Streep, Hathaway, and Blunt’s spontaneous SAG Awards reunion was a humorous reminder of their sparkling on-screen chemistry. One can only hope the talented trio will collaborate again in the future.
But for now, we’ll have to content ourselves with revisiting The Devil Wears Prada and reminiscing about Andy Sachs’ glittering transformation under Miranda Priestly’s exacting tutelage.
