According to Entertainment Weekly, in an Instagram post on Sunday, Gyllenhaal paid tribute to Swayze, reflecting on their time working together and expressing his admiration for the iconic actor.

“I’ve been thinking back about my time working with Patrick on Donnie Darko, and rewatching this great man in the original Road House plus so many other films. I’ve never stopped being a fan,” Gyllenhaal wrote, accompanying his words with a throwback photo of the two actors.

Gyllenhaal went on to commend Swayze’s kindness and generosity, especially towards a young actor just starting out in the industry. “He was such a talent and I continue to have so much respect and admiration for what he put out and into the world. I’ll never forget his kindness to me when I was starting out— he didn’t have to take the time, but he always did.”

As Gyllenhaal gears up for the release of his highly anticipated Road House remake, he acknowledged the legacy of Swayze’s performance in the original 1989 action classic.

“We’ve made a different RH this time around, but hoping it’s one he would’ve had fun watching!” Gyllenhaal wrote, hinting at the unique take on the beloved film.
