The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards celebrated outstanding film and television performances on February 24th. Hosted by a team of presenters, the event featured moving speeches, star-studded tributes, and recognition of the year’s best acting achievements.
The Bear Dominates Comedy Categories
According to Live Mint, FX’s breakout hit The Bear roared on the TV side, picking up dual awards for star Jeremy Allen White for Best Male Comedy Actor and the full ensemble for Best Comedy Cast.
Accepting his trophy, Allen White said the show “was made with so much love” and thanked his colleagues, saying: “You inspired me to no end.”
His co-star Ayo Edebiri also nabbed Best Female Comedy Actress, using her speech to highlight that “There’s still a long way to go” for representation in Hollywood. But she said nights like the SAG Awards “make me feel very hopeful.”
Iconic entertainer Barbra Streisand received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, which Jennifer Aniston said Streisand earned through “setting the bar when it comes to musicians, comedians, actors, directors.”
Streisand accepted by referencing her long career: “Seems like only yesterday I was 27 years old and got my first movie.” She said despite her award-worthy output, “My proudest accomplishment is making people feel less alone.”
