According to Access Hollywood, Gyllenhaal opened up about the rigorous training regimen he undertook to prepare for his role as a former UFC fighter in Road House. “I think, when you start to get into the physical space like that, when you start to train like that, you start to get confidence in the things you can do,” Gyllenhaal shared.
However, the actor admitted that his newfound confidence quickly dissipated when he came face-to-face with the real-life MMA legend.
“Whether that was right or not when you face Connor McGregor for a fake fight that confidence kind of falls to the ground, but it’s great,” he confessed.
