Co-Stars Pay Tribute to Richard Lewis’ Comedy and Heart
Cheryl Hines, who portrays Larry’s wife on Curb, penned a poignant Instagram tribute in Lewis’ memory. Recalling having a crush on him as a young comedy fan, Hines wrote “He was the funniest person on stage and the most handsome comedian. Then when I was cast on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I got to work with him and it was a dream come true.”
“He would take time to tell the people he loved what they meant to him — especially in recent years,” Hines added about Lewis’ warmth. “In between takes on Curb, he would tell me how special I was to him and how much he loved me. To be loved by Richard Lewis. A true gift. I love you Richard. You will be missed.”
Susie Essman and Jamie Lee Curtis also released statements mourning the hilarious yet “loving” Lewis. Curtis in particular remembered first insisting Lewis be cast with her back in the ’80s for the sitcom Anything But Love.
