Amidst persistent rumors of a ‘Modern Family’ reboot, star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has finally addressed the speculation, clarifying that there are no plans for a full-fledged revival of the beloved sitcom. However, the actor has added fuel to the excitement by hinting at a mysterious new project connected to the show.
What is Mitchell aka Jesse Tyler Ferguson Teasing About ‘Modern Family’?
In an interview with Screen Rant at the Tribeca Film Festival, Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett on the show, confirmed that while a reboot is not in the works, something related to ‘Modern Family’ is indeed coming.
He stated, “You’re going to be so disappointed; I have no new information. I’ve told people that something is coming. And something IS coming, but it’s not a reboot. It’s something that I had a lot of fun doing.”
When asked if this secret project could be better than a reboot, Ferguson hesitated, saying, “Well, I hesitate to say that. [Laughs]” This cryptic comment has only fueled speculation among fans about the nature of this mysterious project.

Varying Opinions from Cast and Crew on a Potential Revival
While Ferguson’s tease has reignited hopes for a ‘Modern Family’ reunion, the cast and crew have expressed mixed opinions about a potential revival. Series creator Steven Levitan has cast doubt on the possibility, stating that he was happy with how the show concluded and expressing reluctance to revisit the story.
On the other hand, cast members like Sofia Vergara (Gloria) and Ed O’Neill (Jay) have shown interest in reprising their roles, with Vergara initially hesitant but later expressing excitement about the prospect.
Interestingly, there have been previous attempts at continuing the ‘Modern Family’ universe. In 2020, a spinoff centered around Mitch and Cam (played by Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet) was discussed, but the project ultimately stalled. However, Ferguson confirmed in 2022 that scripts for the spinoff do exist.
