The extended footage from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, shown at CinemaCon, revealed a shocking revelation – Proximus Caesar, the current leader of the ape kingdom, willingly breaks one of Caesar’s most sacred rules: “Ape Not Kill Ape.” This rule, along with “Apes Together Strong” and “Knowledge Is Power,” formed the core principles of Caesar’s teachings and the foundation of ape society.

In the footage, Proximus Caesar commands an attack on Noa’s village, resulting in the death of an ape – a blatant violation of the “Ape Not Kill Ape” law. While Caesar himself bent this rule during the climactic events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Proximus’ actions are different. He not only orders the attack but also allows his ape army to kill other apes without hesitation, signifying a complete disregard for Caesar’s legacy.

Proximus Caesar’s willingness to order the killing of his own kind underscores his fundamental lack of understanding of what it truly means to carry the title of “Caesar.” While he has accepted his role as the new leader of the ape society, Proximus seems to have missed the core values that defined Caesar’s reign.

The 300-year gap between Caesar’s death and Proximus’ rule in the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes may have contributed to this disconnect. However, this does not justify Proximus’ horrendous actions, which directly contradict everything Caesar stood for and the principles he instilled in ape culture.
