According to Snyder, the Man of Tomorrow would have faced a dire situation where he succumbed to the Anti-Life Equation, a powerful cosmic force wielded by the villainous Darkseid.
Snyder’s vision involved Superman being “destroyed” after succumbing to the Anti-Life Equation, only to turn back time and get a chance for a final showdown against Darkseid. This epic battle would have brought Cavill’s Superman full circle, transitioning from his role as a guardian to embracing his humanity.

How Henry Cavill’s Superman Conclusion Could Still Happen?
Despite the DCEU being restructured under James Gunn’s new DC Universe, Snyder’s planned ending for Cavill’s Superman could still potentially come to fruition. One avenue for this is through the Elseworlds banner, which will allow for alternative takes on DC characters outside of the main continuity.
