Ascher also provided details on the Knuckles TV series, which will premiere on Paramount+. He explained that the goal was to “replicate the movie quality in a much more condensed timeline” and avoid creating a “rip-off series or something that was really shoddily put together.”

To achieve this, the production team leveraged existing film assets and character models, as well as the experience gained from previous Sonic projects. Ascher revealed that the Knuckles series will have around 1,600 visual effects shots, which is 300 more than the first Sonic movie.

When asked about the possibility of future seasons of Knuckles or limited series centered on other Sonic characters, Ascher expressed an openness to further expansion. He stated,

“If something is working really successfully, and we have a really great story to tell, we’re definitely going to expand on it. I don’t think there’s any closed doors on future television, future seasons of Knuckles, so everything is wide open.”

However, Ascher emphasized that the focus is on creating quality content that serves the overall Sonic franchise, rather than just making more content for the sake of it.

“I think it’s important to us that we’re not just making stuff to make stuff,”

he said.
