Paramount+ Renews Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for Season 4
According to Variety, the hit Star Trek series Strange New Worlds, set during the era of Captain Christopher Pike’s command of the USS Enterprise, has been renewed for a fourth season by Paramount+. The fan-favorite show, featuring younger versions of iconic characters like Spock, Uhura, and Kirk, has been a ratings success for the streaming platform.
Meanwhile, the animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks will wrap up its run with its upcoming fifth season. The show, which follows the junior officers aboard the USS Cerritos, broke new ground as the first animated comedy in the Star Trek franchise when it debuted in 2020.

Expanding the Star Trek TV Universe
The renewals highlight the continued expansion of the Star Trek TV universe under the guidance of producer Alex Kurtzman and his Secret Hideout production company. In addition to Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks, the recently concluded Star Trek: Section 31 movie and the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series contribute to the ever-growing franchise.

“It has been incredibly rewarding to continue to build the Star Trek universe,” said Jeff Grossman, executive vice president of Programming at Paramount+, praising the unique tones of Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks.
Strange New Worlds season 3 will premiere in 2025, while Lower Decks season 5 is set to debut in Fall 2023, both on Paramount+.
