Yes, Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, has confirmed that plans are still on track for a trilogy centered around Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of the Dark Knight. Despite concerns about the future of the franchise due to delays in the release of The Batman Part II, Reeves assured that the original vision for a three-part series remains unchanged. While some elements of the project have shifted, the core idea of completing a trilogy is very much alive.

In response to recent speculation, Reeves acknowledged that while there were changes along the way, the team is committed to seeing the trilogy through, just as originally planned. Fans can expect more news on the sequel soon, with The Batman Part II scheduled to start filming in April 2025 and release in theaters on October 2, 2026.

Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman, and it’s expected that other familiar faces like Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright will return as well. Production for the film is expected to kick off in April 2025, with casting announcements set to be made this fall.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Penguin, a spinoff series that picks up right after the events of The Batman. The HBO series will star Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin), following his rise to power in Gotham’s underworld. The show won’t feature Pattinson’s Batman, but it will continue expanding on the world of Gotham City.

The Penguin premieres on HBO and Max on September 19, 2024.
