Tim Burton on Johnny Depp and Revisiting His Classics
Tim Burton, known for his collaborations with frequent stars, addressed the possibility of working with Johnny Depp once again. Having collaborated on iconic films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), the two last worked together on 2012’s Dark Shadows.
When asked about a reunion, Burton said, “Well, I’m sure there will be.” However, the director explained his casting decisions rely on the project’s needs, stating,
“It usually has to be based on the project I’m working on. That’s what film is all about. It’s collaboration and bouncing ideas off the people around you.”
While Burton expressed enthusiasm for future projects, he ruled out sequels for certain films like Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He remarked,
“There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to… Certain things are best left on their own, and that for me is one of them.”
