In an exclusive interview with PCGamern Gylfason stated

“Overall, where Valorant is today, I think we’re very happy with the player numbers,” 

when asked about the impact of new competitors. He acknowledged that games tend to experience an “ebb and flow” in player engagement, but Valorant has maintained a solid player base.

Rather than viewing new shooters as threats, Gylfason embraced the diversity they bring to the market.

“I think it’s healthy for players to have lots of choices and options,”

he said, adding that Valorant’s launch actually boosted player numbers for games like Counter-Strike.

As Valorant approaches its 4th anniversary in a few months, Gylfason hinted at potential content celebrations.

“There were so many things that we would have wanted to be able to do by launch had we known it was going to be a success. But I guess now we just have to do them after launch. We have all these big ideas.”
